I just had a dark revelation in my personal life: My big sister is a Skrull. At last weekend's New York Comic Con the truth came out. Now I have to look back over my life with her, maybe even as far back as our childhood, and try to decide when the Skrull invaded. Was this a recent occurence? Or has the sinister plan been in the works for years? Who do you trust? No one is safe. No one is immune. The Secret Invasion is revealed, and if my big sister is part of it, perhaps the loved ones in your life are too! Go read Brian Bendis and Lenil Yu's Secret Invasion for more details. When Art Majors FAIL a Test

My submission for the Illustration Friday.com theme of the week: "Fail." How does an artist respond to all those miserable red x's on a failed test? By dressing up the canvas a little bit with doodles! In elementary school this hopefully would keep the parents from discerning just how wrong your wrong answers were. In college, it was a way to shroud the marks of failure so you could sleep guilt-free!

Secret Invasion Finale, Page 1
Page 1 of the Skrull Spoiler! In a matter of days you will know the outcome of the Secret Invasion, months before the general populace. Stay tuned. Unless you're a Skrull, in which case I would rather you didn't stick around and see this mockery of your historic and hostile attempts at taking over our planet.
Secret Invasion Finale, Part 4
At the prompting of Iron Man, Dr. Strange unleashes his magic on the defiant Skrull. What will happen? What hideous transformation will the shape-shifter experience? The answer, and the answer to the entire Secret Invasion, was revealed years ago. In case you missed it, stay tuned for the Ultimate* Reveal.

Secret Invasion Finale, Part 3
The big comic event of the Spring...revealed one panel at a time! Scroll down for the first panels in the series and work your way up from bottom to top. These spoiler panels will soon be merged into one glorious spoiler page that will allow you to read the Grand Finale of the Skrull invasion all together. Stay tuned for the next panel, where Iron Man's response to the rebellious Skrull is revealed.
Secret Invasion Finale, Part 2
Continuing the BIG reveal of the Secret Invasion, one panel at a time...Note the pure hatred in the Skrull's eyes as he refuses to bend his will to the wishes of the capitalist Earthlings. Why should he surrender in his holy war? Why should he relinquish the planet that the prophecy assured him would belong to the Skrulls? His refusal to comply with Iron Man's order will be a decision he will regret...coming soon in a later panel. Stay tuned.

Massive Skrull Event_Ending Revealed

I just realized that Marvel's current big event, running through multiple titles, has already given away its climactic ending...in the pages of the FREE advance issue of Secret Invasion Saga! I thought I would illustrate this strange turn of events, so here's the first panel in what will be the solution to the Skrull invasion. Hint: It was revealed in the 1990's by some writers who have gone on to much bigger things...I'll post the remainder of the story soon.
Secret Invasion Revealed

Marvel's Secret Invasion #1 hit shelves on Wednesday. This was another great addition to Brian Bendis's plan for world domination (his as well as the Skrulls). I am not one of the people who complain about how many titles Bendis has his hands in. I'm glad he's as involved as he is. His writing has led me to titles I never would have read a few years ago. The fact that I buy two Avengers titles a month is a testament to Bendis's writing ability. I like the fact that he pairs up with a variety of artists, too. Though I loved the long run of Bendis and Bagley, I do enjoy seeing other artists get a chance in other titles to illustrate for Bendis's writing style.
Check out the first issue of Secret Invasion and pick up some of the FREE issues that comic shops are offering to customers; they give an excellent back story to the 40 years of Skrull history Bendis is bringing to the table for this event. Enjoy!
P.S. The artwork pictured here is not from the current series, but it reminds us of where the Skrull story started: The Fantastic Four! This image is from a past Marvel series. Although the artist was not credited in the image I found, I believe it was Carlos Pacheco, whose work you should definitely check out!
