Thanks to Cedric Hohnstadt, an artist who regularly influences me, for promoting this project. The Influence Map is a way of paying tribute to those who have inspired you in your art. The idea is Matt Laskowski's. Matt's thought is that we can go back to the map when we're not feeling artistically motivated, and possibly be reminded of all that inspires us.
When I saw the announcement of this project, some of my inspirations came instantly to mind. As I think primarily about the style of Ramone Cologne, a few of these artists have really influenced Ramone's development. The others whose works are pictured here are influences that started me drawing or kept me drawing through the years. I see a strong comic book connection, and an unsettling influence from MAD magazine, which I remember reading when I was 9-10 years old. :)
As outlined in Matt's guide, the larger the influence, the more real estate the image gets. Starting in the top left corner, from left to right: Bill Watterson, Sergio Aragones, Mike Wieringo, David Mack, Rick Burchett, Don Martin, Stan Goldberg, Carl Barks, Jack Kirby, Ralph McQuarrie, Walt Kelly, Jeff Smith.
